A poem about going on stage and performing for the first time
Backstage I hear the roar of the crowd,
Talking and waiting for us to start,
The actors are ready but nervous,
Soon we don’t hear a sound,

We wait in silence as the curtain opens,
We head on stage with a smile on our face,
Though we feel fear in our heart,
The stage is very round,

The audience stares in silence as we begin our dance,
All wondering if we are pleasing them inside,
Some show smiles others frown,

All are ready to judge at the slightest wrong move,
Lucky ones succeed at this, others not so much,

Sweat drips off our heads, as we wait for our cue,
We try our hardest in them all,
Knowing that each one is not good enough,

At the end of it all,
We hear the roar of the crowd once again as we know we did it,
Tried again and succeeded,
We won the race.
