The Faerie

I wander through the forest grove,
Under the trees of emerald, jade and brown.
The leaves sway in the light breeze,
Casting peculiar shadows on the forest floor.
Looming,
Changing.

A stream of pure crystal bubbles near-by,
Flowing freely over the flat river stones.
The sunlight bounces off of the water,
Like there are tiny diamonds beneath.
Shimmering,
Sparkling.

The sound of soft music  echoes off the trees,
Vibrating throughout the forest.
The beat is uplifting and beautiful,
Like a 3/4 waltz I realize quickly.
Hypnotising,
Entrancing.

I meander through the trees,
Following the  soft melody.
The music grows louder with each step I take,
Louder and louder still.
Increasing,
Intensifying.

I suddenly step into a clearing,
Filled with swaying flowers.
The colours of the rainbow,
Red, blue, orange, pink, green, violet, gold and silver.
Waving,
Dancing.

It wasn't the flowers that were dancing,
It was the tiny folk frolicking beneath and above them.
Faeries were twirling, leaping, waltzing and spinning,
Moving as one with the music.
Dazzling,
Extraordinary.

The beautiful dresses were jewel incrusted,
And threw tiny rainbows around the clearing.
Others  held little sticks for dancing,
Clapping them together in union.
Musical,
Strange

I watched in awe until I noticed the sun setting;
It set the forest around me on fire.
The clearing turned a magenta pink as the sun went to rest behind the horizon.
The Faeries started to depart, bidding goodnight to their winged friends.

I suppose I should start to move off toward home,
It was a long day after all.
