I thought the sun would always rise...
I thought the sun would always rise
and brightly shine in cloudless skies.
The world was filled with butterflies,
and troubles there were few.

Our lives would always intertwine
and you’d remain forever mine,
as if some kind of grand design
had bonded me to you.

Then when you went on your way
I thought you would return someday,
and this time maybe you would stay
and we could start anew.

The years passed by; you never came,
but in my heart there burned a flame.
I still thought someday you’d reclaim
the love I gave to you.

Now finally I’ve come to see
how cruel and harsh the world can be.
You never will return to me;
deep down I guess I knew.

The sky is gray and cloudy now.
I’ll have to struggle on somehow.
No longer will I kneel and bow
to things I thought were true.
