Life from the perspective of an alter...living with multiple personalities.
I know you’ve felt fear.
Fear so overwhelming
That your mind split
And your heart stopped
Creating a plethora of lies
And secrets
A wall in your mind
Giving refuge from the touch of a stranger
From the words of a mother
From the anger of a father
From the world at it’s cruelest
You lie
You lie to yourself
Say it didn’t happen, it never happened
After all, you’re fine
If it were true, you’d be sad
You’d be scared
You’d be lost
But you’re not.
You’re ok.
So it never happened.
Everything is fine.
You can’t take the pain
The knowledge
So we’ll take it for you
We’ll watch you cry yourself to sleep
And you won’t know why
Because nothing happened
There’s no reason to be scared, right?
We’ll protect you
We’ll love you when you don’t love yourself
We’ll stay with you at night when the dark gives you chills
We’ll be there when you see those images in your mind
And you don’t know where they’re from
Because we know the truth
And one day you will too
