For any youngest child who has been left behind by her older siblings
So sheltered, so alone
Always the one to be condoned
By her siblings that are so mature
She can’t find what’s wrong with her
With the baby girl

Snide words, snide glance
She knows she has no chance
What is it about these years
So far and yet so near
To the baby girl

Older child, youngest girl
That's how these things unfurl
Dismissed with no second thought
For the pain that is wrought
On the baby girl

In her room, a quiet place
She allows herself to face
The tears that the sadness brings
Will she ever find her wings
That little baby girl

Goodnight, sleep tight
Let her fears leave in flight
She sleeps in her lonely way
While her siblings laugh and play
Without the baby girl
