This poem is based on real events. Though it's been 5 yrs. Time does force you to heal.
THE WHEELS OF TIME

My world came to a grinding halt.
A swift call and our Universe brought you home.
Ache in my body, mind and into my soul.
I rush to your side. I’m not willing to let you go.

I can’t fill my lungs with the air I need.
Drained... so tired. Can I just lie down and sleep?
I’ll get to see you again soon in my dreams.
Guide me my love, I’m lost it seems.

I curse God, the Universe and mother Earth.
For taking my husband, my children’s father.
Our dinner talks and lazy Sunday walks.
All those plans! Why did we even bother?

The Wheels of Time are rolling forward.
Each day, each week, each month..onward.
I resist. Not yet. I refuse to move on.
I’ll face it anyway. Help me to be strong.

The phone keeps ringing, and family comes by.
All those forms to fill; final plans to make.
Your children will still rise, I prep for school.
They still need meals, allowance, lessons at the pool.

The Motions of time pushed me forward.
I must leave you behind now.
I’m scared, overwhelmed, filled with dread.
It’s not yet my time please do not fret.

One task at a time I’m on my own.
First time in months I caught my breath.
The sun is brighter today then it was yesterday.
A smile warms my lips when I see our children play.

You taught me how to fall in love.
You gave me strength when I had none.
Patience, wisdom, such a gentle soul.
You also taught me when it’s time to let go.
