Confused love poem
It starts in the neck and head
And moves to your feet, it
Starts slow like molten sugar and
Turns into a coma, we’re out for
The night and gone ‘til tomorrow.

It spreads like cancer eating at your throat
You can’t speak or even choke, you’ve simply
Given up hope.
Tied like red string around your index, you’ll
Never forget what it meant to be all and everything
For someone.

After it eats away your ability for speech
It will take your heart and everything else
Beautiful with it, you’re left a shell
Nothing like what will be missed.

Like a slow bass line tapping your toe
To the awkward time, you and I will dance
Slowly, a misstep or two for the party
smile and say,
“I like it”
