This is what I wanted in a relationship. I found it in my marriage to my husband Paul.
I want to feel love
Wash over me like water
When I stand in a hot shower.
Fully envelope me
Like steam
Fogging up the bathroom windows.
I want to feel vulnerable
See myself delicate
I want that tightrope and the spotlight.
I want to see in a glance
That someone thinks I’m amazing.
And feel the temperature rise
When I’m close.
I want heady infatuation
Followed by lingering touches.
I want stutters, missteps
The whole picture.
I want to realize love
Washed over me like water
Like standing in a hot shower.
I want steam,
Fogging up the bathroom windows.
