Poem for Creative writing
I walk silently
Through this shadowy tunnel.
My feet tap against the ground
As I shuffle further.
I stumble as the ground slopes up
Getting steeper as I climb higher.
The higher I go
The lighter it gets.
Not too light
Only a dull red color.
I run my fingers against the wall
Only to find its paint.
The color its self
Makes me slightly depressed.
I remember everything
My home
My past
The friendships I have no longer.
The floor becomes flat
And I keep pushing forward.
Only to trip steps later
To tumble down.
I fall to another even surface.
The walls seem to lighten again .
I can see the orange drip down the walls.
I see another hill to climb.
I try to think about the color and smile.
The color red bring a death to a friendship
Orange brings new ones.
I climb the hill
Going deeper into the tunnel.
Soon the color grows to yellow.
Yellow makes my mind trace back
To when I was beginning my Schizophrenia.
To when I lost almost everything
Including my sanity.
The slope goes flat
The color changes green.
My mind instantly goes to thinking about nature
All the little things we don't see.
The paint drips from the ceiling onto my shirt
Another reminder.
The floor makes another slope
A little steeper than the last.
The paint has become blue
My favorite color.
My mind replays all the happy memories I had
The memories fade to sadness.
The color also fades to purple
To go with the sadness.
To remind me
All memories must fade with time.
Just as all old places must be replaced with new places.
Soon I see white at the end.
I walk to the opening to look around.
A new town
A new place.
With no color.
I walk out of the tunnel.
Fearful of this new place
I turn to go back to where my colors are.
I only see more of the black and white place.
My tunnel
My comfort zone
Is now gone.
I'm nowhere to be found.
I myself have to bring out the colors
Familiarize myself with this place
To make new memories.
To make colors take the place of
Black and White.
Now or never
Is the time to start.
