Entry for the Writers Cramp
Hunched forward, unseen burden on my back
The winter wind blow fiercely in my face,
I see the roads transform from grey to black
From high above I watch the web unlace.
So many lives that sunk to murky graves
The ground it shook and claimed without a thought,
And more were lost than any hoped to save
From great black tides of pain and death and loss.

Brown mud now flows the street where I once played
A small hand reaches out but cannot grasp,
Would it be mine if circumstances changed
The earth had split and torn apart my past?
On painful feet I search for signs of life
A sea of broken dreams and smothered lights,
Amongst the muddy ruins I see a rise
Of blackened earth thats pierced with bloodied white.

Wrapped curled in scarlet ruins a blood soaked mat
Green eyes that stare but do not hope to see,
Soft prints of mud surround the sleeping cat,
Forever now the creature running free.
The wind howls and the darkness heralds night,
But tossed about the breeze are clumps of hair,
Alive it was, survived the earth and tide
T o die instead of poisoned man made air.

The moon it glows and night has taken some
-The wind it warns that worse is yet to come.
