a hero rests, leaving the world to its own, then realises he cannot stand by and watch.
The dust settles on the north,
as shadowed thugs creep forth,
from the nest of the Griffin I keep in sight,
the evil charades played out tonight.

Flashing lights blaze through the streets,
policeman sharp while pounding their beats,
the griffin groans yearning for flight,
I hold her back, let the charades play out tonight.

As I sit, retreating on my hilltop,
it becomes apparent the sirens won’t stop;
my body resenting the urge to fight,
to stop the charades playing out tonight.

Griffin rumbles in despise,
at the meathead bullies and crooks in disguise,
my consciousness pulls with all its might,
I must stop these charades being played out tonight.

The police do what they can,
achieve what is expected of a mortal man,
but they alone cannot set Morton right,
this hero cannot allow the charades to play out tonight.

Rising from the nest, we take to the sky;
on a golden winged griffin I ride high,
and as wind rushes past, Griffin squawks with delight,
ready to drop bombs on the charades playing out tonight.

Swooping from the heavens we take them by surprise,
the swindlers, thieves and the mafia guys,
in the heart of evil fear we ignite,
cutting in mid-scene of the charade played out tonight.

Upon my Griffin I serve the city,
realizing I do it not for money or out of pity,
but because when the Red-Herring and Griffin take flight,
Morton will always be kept safe at night.
