A poem about drug abuse in a teenage girl's family.
The Broken Family

Pot, oh pot,
How you suck a lot.
You smell like a skunk,
And seem to make people flunk.
You lead them who have no desire,
And fog up the house when you’re on fire.
I really don’t understand why you’re here,
But it’s not my place to make you disappear.
I guess it’s all what one wants to do,
Even if that means me loving you.
The love we have is a forced one,
Simply because you seem to be more fun.
I’ll keep on loving you until I don’t have to,
And bear the pain and do what I have to do.
If you only knew how much damage,
That you seem to manage,
Maybe you would reconsider your purpose.
However I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
You’ll always be here,
Until they look into the mirror.
But maybe it’ll happen sooner than I anticipate,
All I can do is pray and wait.
I innocently don’t understand,
But I try so hard and do what I can.
Maybe I’m the one who is wrong,
For not being able to play along.
I just can’t participate in this game,
I guess we all don’t think the same.
Sitting there you wait until the next warm lips,
Coming to swig you down like the very last sip.
The little white wrap that lays on the table,
Oh, how I would throw you away if I was able.
