A poem I made based on a short story.
The things that needed saying

There once was a boy,
And he saw all things in circles
and hues of blue.
He saw the world as it really was.
And it was beautiful.

Every day he would look up at the sky,
And it would just be him and the world
And the things inside him that needed saying.

He wanted to write it down on the ocean,
Or engrave it in the memory of the trees.
But no one understood him.
So he drew.

He drew a picture with all yellow and blue,
Colors that collided together.
And it was how he saw the morning lights.
It was beautiful.
And he loved it.

He kept the picture close
And did not show it to anyone.
It became a secret friend hidden beneath his pillow.
At night he would lay there and think about it,
And he saw it whenever he closed his eyes.

In the mornings, he would lay out in the grass,
Just him and the sky
With the picture right beside him,
Showing the things that needed saying.

And so he began to sing.
He sang about the sky and the trees,
He described the breath of water
And how the flowers hum in spring.

His words were filled with circles
And hues of blue.
And the world began to sing about what it really was
Coming together as one.

And now, when that person lies down in the grass
And looks up at the sky,
With just him and the world;
The things inside him that needed saying
Don’t need saying anymore.

Because he is a part of everything.
The one who started the song
And he loved it.
And it was beautiful
