This poem describes a man I know who seems to be devoid of any deep feelings.
The Shallow Man

I look at you and wonder what goes on inside your mind
I know you are a clever man , I know you can be kind
But there is something missing, I know that it’s not there
A lack of understanding or maybe you don’t care

You seem to be a shallow man, no depth to you at all,
Compassion love and tenderness are lacking in your soul
And when it comes to women, you don’t care if you part
You will not get too close to them  in case they steal your heart.

You love to flirt and tease them and make them feel you care
But really it’s a game to you and they should best beware.
Is it that you’re afraid of love and scared what you might do
Have you been hurt when you were young, been broken hearted  too

You say you’ve never been in love and this could well be true
But what you give is what you get  it’s really down to you
To never really love someone that deep and precious way
You’ll never know just what you missed the day I walked away.
