A poem for those who believe fortune to have abandoned them.
With every moment that we’re given
we often feel, beneath the surface,
that the chance we’ve always wanted
is about to come around our corner
and surprise the sanity from our bones,
leaving us disheveled and disoriented.

But if it should ever come upon on us,
having no idea of how better to react,
we set it aside as if a broken watch,
preferring the concrete beneath our feet,
and abandon the flight of our desires,
not believing opportunity to have truly passed at all.

But we should not be so dimunitive
towards the everyday of our lives,
no matter how hard the task may appear.
For every misstep I have ever taken
I cannot find it in me to regret a single one,
or wish a return to days that have since passed.

For every mistake that has ever marred my efforts
and turned me from the path I set myself on
they have, every one of them, lead me to the present
and there is no better place in the world to live.
