Hawk Wind

Flights in slash and praises,
gifts of death and prey.
Vision made of blazes,
dive and then sashay.

Like the ocean floats
on famous quippy quotes.
Like the seascape rises,
melts in skyward prizes.

Turn to innocence,
the risen lullaby,
then rise to my defense,
of those who try to try.

Nor the ocean flies in
groups of six or ten.
Love inside me senses,
hawks inside the fences.

Nor the ocean drifts
though flying through a mist.
Love inside me rises,
sea of gifts and prizes.

Turn to face the headwind,
dive in consternation,
knowing you’ll stay thick-skinned,
never fully beaten.

Like the ocean stays there,
in and out forever,
never going nowhere,
freedom never severed.

Turn to face the hawk wind,
turn towards trepidation,
sit like hills in wind storms,
give no explanation.

You’re the hawk that’s flying,
heading towards the fair.
Turn to face the hawk wind,
let go all despair.
