A snippet of time in which a realization is made.
On my couch I sit,
waiting.
How long do I wait?
I wish the phone would ring
with some news
of my fortune, my fame,
my riches to come.
I was promised, when I was young.
I was special.
I was smart.
I would be
something.

My mother lied.
