Take Control of Your Life

What does it mean to
Take control of your life?
I have been trying to
Answer that question
For a long, long time.
The truth is that
I am still working on
Finding the answers.
I have begun to realize that
It is really up to me
To be the star actress
In the play that is my life.
I have always known that
To some degree but
It really hits me more
All the time.
It is time for me
To stop being afraid
To make my own choices.
Bad or good or somewhere
In between it does not matter
As long as I feel as though
I can live with the fact that
I made that decision and
Can deal with the consequences.
I have to worry less about
What others think of me
Because people have judged me
All my life or so it seems
And focus more on
What I think of myself.
I need to use the power within
The greatest love of all
My love of myself
And my love of God
As well as God's love for me
To carry me through
The trials and errors of life
And bring me to the joys
And what makes life worth living.
My adult life has been difficult
But I have survived it all
And there is happiness too
So I know I can make it
And someday I will be successful
And be who God wants me to be.
