A blossoming smile

The amnesty declared; each one stood side by side in unbroken delight,
Predator and prey together stunned in awe of majestic solar might.
Energy spreading through vast plains - the effect truly synaptic,
The electric shock like wildfire; dancing graciously in perfect harmony,
The song of the birds, ambassadors returning by divine decree.

Even the green shoots unable to resist the rhythm, their winter sorrow
swept aside to a dreamy hallucination. Each column, each row
Heads humbly bowed by each to show their loving respect
in military discipline standing uniformly guided by instinct, yet vivacious,
The crowds saluting the return of their beloved commander – victorious.


The cold heart of the breeze melted, his appetite to freeze diminished,
Forced warmth he sows gently, blowing kisses of joy – carefully pulsed.
Conceding to all those around him, his icicles stored.
Resuming the solitude in his caves, honouring the treaty in fear,
The rays of light and warmth not to disturb, the promise so sincere.


An infant deer estranged, refusing to embrace the prophesised return,
Memories of betrayal as winter set in; a lesson so hard to learn.
The mother’s eyes beckoning, asking for trust once again.
Her babe transfixed, its legs caught in the dilemma crossfiring,
To follow one’s brain and not forgive or the heart needing its mother’s loving.
The victor as always blending uncreasingly as another of the painting’s tiles,
Splashed abundantly with nothing but blossoming smiles!
