Leaving my church family was hard. this is the poem i wrote/read to them when i left.
Faces
Though God is taking me to a far different place.
I will never forget each & every face.
For as long as I can remember,
Your face kept all things familiar.
When there were joys to be shared and tragedies to bear,
I could always depend on seeing your face there.
On your love I did depend,
With your guidance I could only win.
For this village did raise my momma’s only child,
Many faces did I see that were always watching over me.
Some of those faces have long gone away,
But their faces & yours keep guiding me today.
Though I leave those familiar faces behind
And seek new faces to fill my mind.
Your face will I remember when I need some peace,
As I remember the love you all shared with me.
The prayers you have prayed,
    The support you always gave,
The foundation you helped lay,
Made me what I am today.
The examples you came to be,
The teachings you taught to me,
Your commitment made me see,
How God could set me free.
You taught me to love,
    You taught me serve,
You taught me share,
And you taught me to care.
Your face will always be fresh on my mind.
It will always remind me it is here I can find,
My home with those familiar faces
And a place I am loved & where boundless grace is.
