A poem to my angry teenage son , who believe that the world is against him.
To My Son…Jamal..

A boy, a beautiful boy,

Hiding beneath  heavy cloak of confused anger

Shrouded in lies and uncertainty.

Look my son! Your nose is chiseled fine like the mighty pyramids of Egypt,

sand blasted until smooth like fine glass,

Look here I tell you, look at your reflection,

And see all this beauty I see.

A boy a beautiful boy.

Flaring nostrils like the river Nile,

flowing down your face,

Like the deep dark Demerara,

Like the shining majestic Essequibo.

A boy a beautiful boy.

Shoulder’s wide like the Pakarimas,

Giving way to solid arrogant chest,

Flowing down to flat rippled stomach,

Into pillars of stance like mighty oaks.

Driven deep into gods earth.

A boy what a beautiful boy.
