A urge to women to stand strong and demand your fair share of love
Lift your head sistah.
Stretch slender neck to reach blue skies high above.
discard shame like you do worn out shoes.
Open deep dark brown sad eyes, look around
Bear witness to God’s majestic beauty.
Stomp your feet in his holy earth.
And with a strong voice say,
‘I am here!, I am here!, this is me making my mark on your world.
March on his holy land, demanding your share of his divine love and essence.
With uplifted hands, squared shoulders, relentless endurance say,
“You placed me here, amidst your wonders and beauty now stand besides me.
As I journey here,
As I journey here,
I am woman.
I am sister.
I am daughter.
Mother,
Friend,
lover,
I am simply me, standing naked in your presence waiting, watching, wondering if I am complete.
If this aloneness I feel, will vanish like your wondrous dawn
If this shield I carry of past mother’s, sisters, and queens can protect me from my tomorrows
Walk with me is what I asked.
Walked with me,
For I am simply me
Just a rib you plucked.
Lift your head I say sistah.
