For a friend. Hoped it would help.
Hello, Darkness, my old friend,

If I may use the phrase

The womb, the cradle, then to the grave

Darkness rules with no abandon

I see myself, enveloped in,

Or is it a trick of the light?

Opposition in all things,

But yet there’s love with scorn

The pain blinds my eyes,

There is only cold; numbness

Warm figures float in view

I cannot reach them, my barriers too great

Every time I smash against, they recoil

They stiffen, never breaking

Freedom eludes me, yet hands beckon

They reach and I grasp smoke

Words are words, nothing more

Blind, I only feel them
