River Morning

The winding river
Still shadow shrouded
Beneath the pine trees flows
Over rocks, through weeds
The gentle water goes

The rising sun
Great glowing globe
Peeps from behind the trees
Slanting rays brightly stream
Through pine needles and leaves

The morning mist
Rippling rises
Like breath on a frosty morn
First bird calls out
The dawn’s early silence torn

The night flees
Wide world wakes
The magic time has flown
I breathe a prayer
For the moment known
