Kind of a dark poem..guess the title gives that away...read it though, please.
The feeling is rising again
Like so many times before
Just waiting for the doubt to begin
The feeling reaches down to her core

It envelops her
And takes over her mind
She feels like nothing more than a blur
She wishes life could just rewind

The pain is taking over
She can’t see tomorrow
The feeling is like a bulldozer
She wishes someone would see her sorrow

She can’t control what happens
The darkness is taking over
She closes her eyes and her world brightens
As she lets the knife hover

The feeling inside
Is something you can’t describe
Yet it’s more countrywide
Than a person could proscribe

Does she lay the knife down
And let the red river flow?
Or does she hear the sound
Of a voice in the glow?

Is it a dream?
She feels no pain
She wonders if this is all part of some scheme
And if not then what’s the gain

She looks into the light
And sees a gentle soul
She thinks of a white knight
As he softly says, “It’s okay young foal”

Now she’s with Him
And feels no more pain
She doesn’t see the scars from the metal shim
Or feel the extra tears that had left a stain

Her parents found her body on the floor
She’d slit her wrist one too many times
They didn’t know what was behind that door
Now they can hear the soft chimes

She sits and stares
Not knowing what to think
Her parents stand as a pair
Not daring to even blink

They watch her body leave
In nothing more than a body bag
Now they’re left to grieve
Her mother holds a bloodstained rag

Now it’s too late
She never realized the truth
Darkness made her see only hate
Now she sees the true proof

She watches her mother three days later
As her body is laid to rest
She sits a bit straighter
When they say she was the best

Her mother cries as she says goodbye
And her father is silent by her side
The girl watches as he starts to cry
They never knew she lied

She’s forever laid to rest
But she doesn’t want to be
She never realized the darkness was a test
So now she’s trapped forever to just see

Her parents mourned day after day
Not knowing what they did wrong
Until they both each passed away
Then they each heard their daughter’s song

“I have been watching all along
And I apologize to you
I couldn’t be strong
And I didn’t give you a clue”

Her parents held hands
As they walked into the glow
They saw their daughter in the stands
And around her looked to be white snow

They ran together
To meet her again
It had seemed like forever
And it had driven them insane

Now they are one
Under the shelter of the glow
Everything is done
And they simply go with the flow
