Like always, interpret as you see fit and I would love to know what you think.
Lost in a city of rusted chains
There stands a tree beneath the grey
It’s golden-green of lonely days
For the cities’ life long washed away

No sounds of laughter fill the streets
Just crying winds abound a tree
Friend only to the sulking breeze
For tis a tree no more will see

And as the heavens watch it’s pain
They whimper forth a subtle rain
For never a friend will this tree gain
As the cities’ love has passed away
