For the A-Z Poetic Form Contest, Diatelle style. A poem of extreme emotion.
A Diatelle form with a syllable count (#) and rhyme pattern (letter) of 1a-2b-3b-4c-6b- 8c-10c-12a-10c-8c-6b-4c-3b-2b-1a

Perception

Dreams.
My eyes
Tell me lies
When I see you.
I don’t see a disguise,
I want my vision to be true.

Your sparkling eyes, your hair an auburn hue;
Yet the person standing there is not what she seems.
Fifty years ago I was wed to you,

Then at your grave I said adieu.
This mirage I despise,
Airy as dew.
My heart dies,
Decries,
Screams.
