a poem about fear.
Fear

Such an unpredictable notion
Skittering
To appear
Any moment
Any time
But how do you conquer it
How do you defeat it
When you can’t tell where
It comes from

People always say
Face your fears
But
How do you do that if
It’s not something trivial?
Spiders
Heights
Small spaces

What if it’s something else?
Burning
Live burial
Death

How do you get over it
Without killing yourself
Physically
And
Mentally?

I guess you could talk
About it
Darkness
Flames
Licking your body clean
Evaporating the shell
of everything
dirt falling
through your face
tiny worms gnawing
through flesh

Air
Slowly nothing
A black injected abyss
Calmly sucking in
Obliterating light
Destroying

But what does that do
But make you more afraid
And what happens if you discover
That what you fear is
Everything
