My Mentor

A poem about Ren
and I can't even curse,
mythology was bad
but this is much worse.

I have to be honest
on a serious note,
before I met Ren
crappy poems are what I wrote.

She became my mentor
and one of my best friends,
and I, no doubt, all the while
frustrated her to no end.

She taught me that poems
do not have to rhyme,
and with lots of practice
I got better in time.

When I first joined the Cup
I thought "What have I done?!?"
Now that it's coming to an end
I think "Wow, I had fun!"
