Villanelle for Writer's Cramp.
Deforestation makes Mother Earth cry.
Down by the riverside animals drink.
Ravage the trees and the planet will die.

Trees take the sunlight that comes from on high,
and with it there is an oxygen link.*
Deforestation makes Mother Earth cry.

Plus as a filter trees do more than try.
They act as a carbon dioxide sink.
Ravage the trees and the planet will die.

Patches of forests on continents lie;
yet their downsizing is reason to think.
Deforestation makes Mother Earth cry.

There exist species that crawl, climb and fly;
but their existence is now on the brink.
Ravage the trees and the planet will die.

Without the trees, heat is lost to the sky;
life needs the heat to remain in the pink.
Deforestation makes Mother Earth cry;
ravage the trees and the planet will die.
