religion, native people
As the white man stood
with his fist in the air
the native girl watched
as he drank his beer
and preached damnation.
her world to him
he didn't care,
she was another soul
to fit into his belt.
another lost soul to begile,
her way of prayer meant
nothing at all,
for he was right
a gather of souls
she listened with her heart
as he spoke from his mouth
she spoke from her heart
as he listened with his ears
she listened with her heart
as he saw with his eyes
she saw with her heart
the great ones in the sky.
