A political poem about the economy and Corporate America
Four Days

Day One

I clock in excited to work.  I step my foot in and the first whispers I hear are "Lay Offs'.  My mind fills with angry, stress, and worry.  All the sweat, all the headaches could be for nothing.  Working my ass off for a cheap, stingy company.  What’s the point of even trying if this company is planning on laying people off.

Day Two

I clock in less motivated.  Walking around with a concern face.  Co workers asking me "Are you finally done with this place."  Can't concentrate on my job.  A million thoughts running through my brain.  How will I pay my bills, can I find another job quickly, and what about my health?

Day Three

I clock in not giving a shit anymore.  I look at my schedule and see I'm safe for another, but who cares.  This place is a huge mess.  Co workers fighting and stabbing each other in the back just to earn a spot.  This is what the company wanted right.  Breaking hard working individuals spirits down to the ground.  All just to save a couple of pennies.

Day Four

No clocking in today.  A so called day off.  Can't day anything with this paycheck.  All I can do is wait for that pink slip.  When it comes, I'll just say "Thanks for the opportunity."  But on the inside I'll smile and wait for the company to fall apart.
