Two lost sweethearts have a chance meeting one day in high school.
I sleepwalk through another lonely day
in this oversized warehouse for teenagers.
Oh, isn't high school fun?
For some perhaps.

Last year, I liked someone.
Now I choke when I see her across the hall,
Passing like a mirage,
Two shadows fleeting in the night,
reduced to a few nervous "hi's" in the hallway.

Now, I try to muddle through
as 2400 pitiless shadows
tell me there are other girls.
You can have them, they aren't her.

But on this day,
I nearly run over her.
Our eyes meet,
she grins at me,
I wink at her.
And just for a while,
a long dead magic is back.
