Soilder with Angel Wings
Soldier with Angel Wings

Everyday I walk by that thing.
It sits there making me remember.
Making me remember all those memories.
Those memories that I try to push away.

I can still see the roses I put on it.
Their dead now, only brown crumbled stems left.
That was barley a year ago.

Sometimes when I see it I hear your voice.
Your voice calling me over to that fence.
That chainlinkfence surrounding your grave.
They put that fence there.
The army that is.
They did that to show where you are.
You and all the other solder's that died.
Dieing to protect us.
To protect me.

I feel responsible for this.
I want to take it back.
I wish I would’ve been the one.
The one who put myself in the front and not you.
But I didn’t.

I didn’t know this was the outcome.
Nobody did.
You all have the highest honor.
Solders with angle wings.
