A poem about a happy child, hunting for a present for mommy.
Dancing for Lilies

Long since gone

A dreamer drifting

waving and leaping

his arms in windy wood,

And dance with

Careful elegance

Lifting and twirling

He ran across the bog.

To far away

To hold a wish

Between each

Vibrant sensual light.

A dream of lilies

he holds his breath

As he spied them.

Danced a wish

Between his fingertips,

Across each long and dark

Watery divide to find

Only that he had sadly danced

Alone to far

Lifting and twirling

As he ran across the bog.

Oh the muddy day

Deep and cold

upon his waist,

Pushing further

feverish with pleasure

At the promise

the lilies held

for mothers loving embrace.

How she would smile

at His labors

driven to near

Desperation,

wallowing in deep

and dreadful Bog

only to grip the Lillie pad

As a treasure chest

and from it,

Draw the Lily

as a sword to earn

Mother’s joy

and loving embrace,

Victory! He cried.
