A poem about the boogie man
Nightmare God

Slithering blackness, rage incarnate

face of an angel

half black, half white

dream catcher upon its back.

Adorned in human skulls

Fragmented Hellfire dances,

nightmare god unleashed.

Shadowing him

into the place he sleeps.

Through mirror, closet

beneath.

They are portals all,

to jubilant midnight

cravings.

The learned man

does not consider

the boogie man is real

yet leaping like a child

he sequels with,

a fear full smile

Laughing at himself.

Nightmare god

with flesh stretched in shadow

wants not to kill

fear is his,

everything

to make all surrender

through pain.

knowing

icy liquid along his back

the man turns

nothing to embrace

claws along his leg

that do not cut,

but panic

he lashes out with

first grabbed object.

The icy fingers

of the soul drinker

move up his legs

toward waiting joy

the man lashes out

with Celtic cross

from family wall.

It burns the flesh

of godly countenance

raining rage

as true claws unfurl

ripping flesh and

savaging man

who screams

like a girl.

Recounting pain

to loving family

he tells of ghosts

and demons of this world

how leg was torn and

I was ripped,

and that is why

I walk with a limp.
