A poem about how some don't understand or relate to my work and what I want from them.

Bereft of me
Can’t you see
You should know
Somehow understand
That I am just a man
A person doing so much
My hands are of course stained
What I’ve done
And what I’ve become
Unquestionably linked
I have always been forced
No will does indeed belong
Survival is the only game
A game to be played quite well
Failure is no option that I can see
To rise above
Is what it means to continue on
I must do all of this
But you my enabled friend
Still have a viable choice
Turn from these words
If you feel in your heart you must
I will not find a way to judge
I will not consider you an enemy
I will however consider you ill informed
You didn’t ask and I know
That such a statement is indeed
A qualifying defense
But this is no court of law
There is not one claimant
That has a right over the other
Judgment by the judgmental does not work
Not one of us is without our own stain
God knows and if he don’t
He sure as hell acts as if he does
Bereft of me
Deprive me of what I need
And I of course will do the same
Everything in life is fair game
I know that because I’ve lived it
Always being the target
Teaches a person to move
In dramatically unpredictable ways
If you can stand these words
Then please do as much
Interpret them as your own
Then maybe you could understand
What it’s like first hand
Bereft of me
Be more concerned for yourself
I of course would do the same
Take what few lessons are here
And make each of them your own
Do whatever it takes to survive
Because I assure you
That I am doing exactly the same…
