Plauged by the unknown, what should you do?
NOTE: I have to say, this is quite strange- One of my peculiar ones. This story can be one kind or another, depending on how you interpret it.

They started that morning- The footsteps.
Five long, dreadful hours. I stare out the window,
as the drought in my throat worsens. I wonder if
I should get water, but I don't want to stand.
They'll follow me if I do.

The echo of feet touching the ground sounds
as one making quite strides. They run across the house
at a pace that seems purposeful. They run about without
making visual, and I have to wonder how they can do this.

How much longer must I suffer in this hell? What
have I done? I hold back tears before I am certain that
I need water, if I wish to continue living. Which, of
course, I do.

Cautiously, I stand; and the footsteps suddenly
grind to a halt- The house is now silent. I pause,
beginning to rethink getting liquid. I can feel them waiting.
Waiting for me to make my move.

I slowly move my foot forward, and have it touch
the cold, hard ground. I feel them breathing down my neck, as
if to say "Hello". I'm so thirsty. So Thirsty.

Despite myself, I continue to walk toward to kitchen.
The footsteps are still here. They are right behind me. I
try to ignore them, but they are engulfing me. I can't think
of anything except them, and the closet.

The closet door opens, exposing itself to me. The
darkness beckons me to join it. They beg me to join them in
closet. It looks wonderful, safe, and comfortable in the closet.
The darkness will protect me. They will protect me. Their still
bodies will protect me. I give in to their pleas, and I enter.
