A crown cinquain entry for Feb 2014 Short Shots
Ski Rescue

Let's go!
Jump off the ridge
Skiing down the hill fast
A rumble above, his warning
Snow slide

Help, help!
A wall of snow
Churning, tossing, pushing
Buries him deep in the snow tide
Smothers.

Quickly!
Strapping on skis
Slip on orange jackets
Ski straight and quick as possible
See him?

Despair.
We cannot hear
Buried deep and so cold
Frantic digging, shouting to find
Need time.

What's that?
A muffled noise
With hands and tools dig quick
Rescue!  Warm him, sled him down hill
Thank you.
