Balance
Challenged
Above my gravity center
Seeking forgiveness
Somewhat unrelenting
Up here
In these clouds
There are no sounds
No clues of direction
Up here
Way above
Is God’s home
His hallelujah
For those brave few
That have walked the line
And for those many others
That followed close behind
I know
Well aware
That in this place
I don’t belong
Off kilter
I feel like
I’m always close to falling
Tumbling down
Ass over tea kettle
The impact
No doubt
Would be great
More than life
More than death
Combined
Endless within time
Spiritual-lessness defined
God
Always likes to make a point
I’m a fine example
Of just how far he’ll go
As unwanted visitor
I continue to walk around
Inspecting
All while pretending
That I somehow
Am meant to be here
To willingly step
Where there is no ground
Oh the madness
Faith
Of course
Would come in handy
I should have lived the good book
I should have been willing
To believe the unbelievable
But I was not
And now I’m here
In these clouds
Wandering around
Pretending like I belong
When clearly I do not
Above my gravity center
Higher than I’ve ever been
Higher than I’ve ever thought
Am I still alive
Or am I all but dead
Wondrous is the question
That it’s always too late to ask
I don’t know what’s coming next
How could I ever
Faith of course
Would help me deal with such
A paradoxical predicament as this
But such a thing as faith
Is what I have least of all…
