Why Jupiter's red spot is getting smaller.
On Jupiter long ago in skies spinning,
Floaters evolved, (the sky was their beginning.)
They are like big gas bags floating around;
in lazy herds can the Floaters be found.

Also on Jupiter rages a Red Spot;
(though due to downsizing, some assert red dot.)
Herein this tale gives the reason and rhyme
for the Red Spot lessening over time.

Turns out the Floaters eat hydrogen gases;
(as a base element, nothing surpasses.)*
After all, Jupiter is a gas ball
with ample sustenance for one and all.

Here in the cosmos some things are redundant;
methane and ammonia clouds are abundant.
Common on huge worlds, excessive orb stock;
(but not on Earth because it’s mostly rock!)

Jupiter’s red spot continued its turning;
heavier gases escaped in the churning.
Then like a hurricane of Earthly stead,
wavelengths of light were refracted in red.

But like a side benefit quite amazing,
pure hydrogen on the edge led to grazing.
Floaters approached the spot as you’d expect--
O how the environment will select!

Then as the Floaters fed on the gas gladly,
energy for the red spot was lost, sadly.
Over the decades with herds everywhere,
the Great Red Spot lost a bit of its flair.

(Hunters roam freely which Floaters find scary;
  though there are few, Floaters have to be wary.
  This makes them gorge on the gases galore,
  which makes the Great Red Spot shrink all the more.)

*Hydrogen makes up 99% of the cosmos, including stars,
(our sun) as well as Jupiter.
