Poem about not being able to write a poem
I cannot, cannot write a poem
It's stunningly complicated
Hiding in my motor home
With nothing imaginated

I can write a laundry list
Twenty-five feet long
After which I feel blissed
And bellow out a song

I cannot, cannot write a poem
My rhymes gallop away
No ideas inside my dome
My verse runs free, okay?

I can write a letter
Using calligraphy
A friendly note's much better
I chime out a "tee-hee"

I cannot, cannot write a poem
The forms rush away, fleet
One hides behind a garden gnome
With gnarly Hobbit feet

I can write a grumble
Like the one you're reading here
But iambs keep me humble
And skitterry as a deer

I cannot, cannot write a poem
I don't really know how
I only write small ditties
So, do you believe me now?
