My first sonnet.
One by one, the pieces crash to the ground
A forgotten life leads to misery
Absent from everything, all sight and sound
A black skyline hides the darkness beneath

The broken glass so beautifully glitters
Poetic injustice its marvelous end
Like the strongest tree-- when it withers
Its beauty comes bestowed in its death

How great an end we have made for ourselves
How great the cost for our terrible crimes
Beautiful tragedies, the stories they tell
A people forgotten. Lost people in time

We are all beggars and in this we prove
The harder you grip, the quicker you lose
