A poem I hope to put to music
Childhood faith
And forest
And more
I would speak and you ignore
Wings and horns and leaves and fae
I can see
But you turn away
Love and hugs
Cartoons
Hold my hand
I tried to sing
But you didn’t understand

Chip me
Crack me
Scold me
Remold me
Crack me
Break me
Hold me
remold me

Look here’s love child
Now settle down
Stay here close
And don’t look down
Stay and try
And work and cry
This is how
We all do it now
Other ones are cruel
You see
But you say
it all comes down to me
If they are mean
Then it must mean
That there is something
wrong with me

Chip me
Crack me
Scold me
Remold me
Crack me
Break me
Hold me
Remold me

Why can’t you understand
I can see that you care but
don’t understand

Grown and all out
On my own
What I do I now must own
Still some are cruel
and I understand
I hold my life in my own hand
Work and try
And do or die
Its all my fault
if they don’t understand

Chip me
Crack me
Scold me
Remold me
Crack me
Break me
Hold me
Remold me

Now I know
You aren’t my prince
And I don’t need
To be rescued
I’ll find my own tribe
Who understand
Finally I understand
I am a statue of glass
With a molten steel core
And each time I break
I am remade once more

Chip me
Crack me
Scold me
Remold me
Crack me
Break me
Hold me
Remold me

Peace comes with fur
And love with a purr
And loyalty and faith
With the wag of a tail
Connect with the waters
And the fish understand
And feeding a bird hold
flight in your hand
Waterfowl gather
And horses approach
Deer look right past
And wolves will encroach
Grasses wave heartbeat
And trees blow my breath
Waves chill the hot spot
When I think of death

They understand
Somehow without speaking
They all understand

My children will look
And they will all see
The understanding
Deep within me
The tribe hears my soul
And shows me their heart
I feel now it’s time
to make a new start

Chipped me
Cracked me
Remolded me
Cracked me
Broke me
Remolded me
Glass statue with
A molten core
I’ll break the mold
And be broken no more
