Don't let it hound you forever.
You're alive, your heart struggles to beat,
You lie awake, accepting defeat.

Nights are long, your memories haunting,
The road ahead is all too daunting.

Day by day, you face your plight,
To be stuck in fight or flight.

What you wish you couldn't be,
Is your own worst enemy.

The light you cling to; it's ever so dim,
Though It reminds you to never give in.

Free from the black dog, oh what you wouldn't give,
For a life of sorrow is no way to live.

Negative thoughts are curtailed,
Fighting your demons, you have prevailed.

The darkness fades, it becomes so clear,
you trade this sadness for so much cheer.

Who would have thought that you're a fighter,
You'll face the world with days much brighter.
