A humours interaction between siblings

“My dear little brother” I once said,
“Tell me what’s going on in your head?”

He looked at me with longing in his eyes,
Sighing he gazed up to the starry skies.
In a sad voice he then turns and replies,

“I’m in love with the girl next door, she sets my heart a flame.”
I chuckled and asked “Do you even know her name?”

His face grew red and he struggled not to stutter,
“I don’t care! She sets my heart a flutter.”
Truly my little brother was a nutter.

“My dear little brother you are only ten,
There is plenty of time to fall in love again.”

Shaking his head, he cried,
“She was to be my bride.”

Taking his hand, I softly said,
“It’s time to rest your weary head”
So with that I sent him off to bed.
