A Poem Inspired by Neil Gaiman's "Stardust"
Victoria or Yvaine?
That is love’s true quest.
Whether it’s based on vanity,
Or something more than jest.

Victoria, so sought after,
With your flaxen hair,
You send me off to prove my love,
Whether or not it’s fair.

Yvaine, the fallen star so bright,
A treasure beyond all worth,
You ask for nothing in return,
But a love beyond this earth.

Victoria, so cherished once,
Would you dare to prove your love?
Would you walk a thousand miles,
Or fight pirates up above?

Does it matter that I fought a witch,
Or dared to climb the Wall?
From my uncle’s blade, I could be pierced,
Do you care that I might fall?

Yvaine, I must confess at first,
I treated you unfair,
Couldn’t see that after everything,
You’re the answer to my prayer.

But now I wait for you, Yvaine,
The darkness, ask you chase,
Wrap me in your loving arms,
Your light, true love’s embrace.
