Dedicated to the former First Lady who was laid to rest today. Condolences to her family.
Laid to Rest
She closed her eyes one last time on earth
And woke up in a place of beauty and warmth
Her body moved with ease and increasing strength
No more pain in her heart
No more struggle to breath
She looked for those she loved the most
Especially the man who shared the seventy-three years beside her
But he was not here
Their children or grandchildren were not here
No friends, or nurses to answer any questions
Soon it would be apparent that
She was in a place like a beautiful garden
Where she could walk and enjoy the calm like never before
She paused to smell the flowers and
In the distance she saw a beautiful little girl walking towards her
Barbara knew who brought them together.
She let her overjoyed tears silently flow as they hugged
Others from her past came to greet her
She then thought about the man who she
Had left behind in his deepest sorrow
But she knew that when it was his time
He would leave those wonderful others
And be by her side, walking in heaven forever.
