A rhyming poem about feeling abandoned by a loved one.
She has gone away.
Loneliness fills my day.
Panic stalks me in a way
that I have no words to say.

Why did she abandon me?
My love for her is plain to see.
Empty is my world without her.
I’m left to mope, to hardly stir.

Filled with doubt, I have to whine.
Will I ever again be happy, be fine?
I am listless, filling my day with naps.
Do I deserve this, misbehaving perhaps?

Wait! Her car is in the driveway now.
Something changed her mind somehow.
Entering, she asks, “Were you a good boy?”
My tail wags; I run to her, jumping with joy.

Her return has caused my world to mend.
As a dog, with this issue I must contend.
