unexpected loss
My heart breaks as she leaves the front door
I reel from her gaze my eyes flood with tears
The door closes
I let a cry, and slump into the chair

I sit motionless the room echoing with my wail
The sound, like a grieving widower
The pain like, like nothing before
Followed by silence

I look up and around
I am alone
The walls stare back, the furniture unmoving
The house surrounds and crushes me

I move from room to room to floor
I seek a smell I see, smell a previous occupancy
In time, not yesterday, but a moment ago

It comes back the pain the tears
I just can’t make it alone
She has left, why?
What madness is this?

Where is she now, how far can she be
I ring…… she answers
“I don’t know what to say”she calmly says
even the voice helps

but she won’t stay, she sounds like she cannot
It’s dead the line, the marriage, my life
I look up no words or sounds
I look around, no sights nor smells
I move through the air, disturbing only the molecules
Like a ghost.
